 Lifting the Park and Maximizing Natural Light. The location of the building intends to maximize the sun light during the afternoon generating a ramp that can be used not just as a way of entering the building but also as a way of enjoying the shadow of a tree and relaxing from the city traffic. The exterior stairs act not just as a way of going up but also as a tribune for the park which is the core of the intervention. As the geometry of the building reveals its dynamics it becomes clear that the park is also part of the library and an element of the information society.

 Sinking of the Program. The unfolding of the program generates the gesture of a sinking platform in order to contain the volume so that the intense use of the existing public space will be preserved and merged into the new program of the library.

 Open Circulacion. The building intends to achieve an open circulation so that the user has the option of going through the interior spaces without a rigid succession of compartments but as an intriguing and friendly discovery. The newcomer will be seduced into its interior as in a cave and will be immersed into the virtual world. There are no fixed compulsory spaces but free and non-rigid areas that can be transformed and reconfigured as time goes by as program requirements change. The circulation connects the users with the street so that the building merges with the park and the exterior wall is more a skin than a boundary.

 Oudoor Display. This fragment of technology made of a led display metallic mesh reveals the world and becomes part of the urban scenario. The electric impulses that turn on the display are the contemporary information carriers thus activating the public space and generating a meeting point. The possibility of having an exterior led panel generates a logic in which the object becomes the support for information itself.

The users of the park either use the building or simply relax on the exterior stairs, enjoying a music concert or watching a movie in the Led Display.

 Interior Spaces description On the ground floor facing North the main hall with the main public entrance is located. From here there the space unfolds as a monumental stair that connect to the underground level where a Multipurpose auditory that can be reshaped into an exhibition area is located, as well as the children spaces, the preservation room facilities, the study spaces and toilets.

From the main hall the stairs and a lift connect the general collection and reading room on the second floor with the office and maintenance spaces on a balcony on first floor. These spaces are also organized along an inclined access and have their own service entrance and freight elevator located on the South façade on a street level.

There are two entrances for the reading room, one directly from the exterior ramp and one from the internal stair and lift thus creating a flow of users enabling the library to become a forum for cross-disciplinary conversations. There is also a mechanical platform for handicapped users attached to the reading room East façade.
